What to pack for a Cordoba dove hunt at Sierra Brava Lodge. This list is a reminder of things you may want to bring — adapted from Sierra Brava’s packing guidance.
Clothing & field gear
- Camouflage or khaki hunting clothes and hats
- Sweaters, long-sleeve shirts, and polar fleece — especially during winter June to August. Layering matters: mornings can be around 40°F and afternoons in the high 70s
- Lightweight rain suit and waterproof clothing from November to March
- Shoes: lightweight or ankle-height; many shooters wear sneakers
- Gaiters recommended November to March
- Comfortable clothes for relaxing around the lodge
Shooting essentials
- Shooting glasses, sunglasses, 30spf+ sunscreen, Chap Stick
- Recoil reduction equipment: shoulder pads, Kevlar-lined vests, EvoShield shirts
- Lockable travel gun case (stainless steel or heavy-duty fiberglass)
- Oil, choke tubes (modified, improved cylinder, or improved-modified), and cleaning accessories — the lodge has cleaning rods and patches
- Hearing protection: earplugs
- Side-carry shooting pouch or shell vest — bird boys will load for you if you want
- Leather shooting gloves are recommended
Power & personal
- Electricity is 220V (European style). The lodge has converters for 110V devices; some hotels in Buenos Aires and airports do not
- Medication for symptomatic relief; shaving kit with painkiller, Band-Aids, prescribed meds
- Bug repellent for summer months
